Projekt, was established by Peta Becker in 2006, as a fair-trade initiative, which provides skills training, through workshops and lessons, to its 25 members.
The crafts women of Projekt specialise in extremely fine crochet work in 100% cotton and linen, using the smallest of hooks. Their lively, contemporary creations show case interesting colour and pattern mixes and are wonderfully tactile. The pieces range from intricate tiny cacti and animals to large sculptural pieces.
The group takes great pride in their skills, and their work has travelled to some of the best design stores from Japan to Amsterdam.
The Project is based in Hout Bay, near the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement, and the studio is in Woodstock, Cape Town.

The group takes great pride in their skills, which are of a very high level – our work has travelled to some of the best design stores from Japan to Amsterdam. We are known for the emphasis we place on interesting colour and pattern mixes, and obsessively invent new toys, cacti, and animals, as well as scarves and jewellery.
